SecondLife Black Independent Film Festival

Iconoclast Productions is working to carve out a bit of virtual space in the virtual life simulation SecondLife in order to present the works of African American independent film makers to a global audience. The film festival will take place at the lovely theater in the City of Midsonia (designed and operated by Penelope Parx.)

Beginning in February 2011, Iconoclast Productions in collaboration with Friends of Midsonia will host a Black History Month Film Festival in SecondLife. The festival will contain short films from the San Francisco Black Independent Film Festival screened in SecondLife. Short films not included in the SFBIFF will also be considered.

HOW IT WORKS:

- The Midsonia Theater can
   show the films in SecondLife
if they have been loaded on
   to YouTube.

-  Iconoclast Productions can
   load films onto YouTube for
   the filmmakers who have been
   selected for the SFBIFF and
have submitted a DVD and an
entry form which can be found
   here: Film (note: Short films
of 10 minutes or less are
   eligible for the SecondLife
   screening.)

For up to date information on the festival in Second Life join the Iconoclast Productions group there. The group is free and open to the public.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with the virtual presentation of the film festival, please contact Miki Bizet in SecondLife or email Miki Bizet. Include in the message what kind of help you can offer (that includes: being an usher in the Virtual Theater, uploading films, help with promotion, and building assistance.)
